I recently bought an Ibanez AS-73 (semi-hollow, looks like an ES 335). I wanted something totally different for non-metal purposes, and am quite happy with it. For just under 400 bones (was around $380 all said and done), it's great; sounds nice, well-made, looks gorgeous. One big plus is how it plays... the neck is like lightning. Christ...
Another Ibanez I've been playing a bit is my student's RG Prestige. I must get one of these... It is hands down the easiest guitar to play that I've ever used. The fretboard is almost completely flat, the scale length must be slightly longer than my Carvin, and the pickup position right before the neck (neck and middle coil?) just sounds killer... single coil-ey with no hum. Awesome for crazy picked runs.
So, question for you Ibanez guys: which RG's are best, and not over a grand? I'm pretty determined to get one; RG next, then 8 string late 2009, then I have to stop. lol I believe my student's Prestige is an older model and no longer made, but maybe I'm wrong (I'll find out the model when I see him next). Are the non-Prestige RG's any good? I'll try some out next time I hit Guitar Center, but thoughts are welcome! _________________ Just Walk Away

After looking around, I believe his guitar is an RG1570 Prestige. _________________ Just Walk Away

Sadly, the best RGs are all over a grand. The 1527 7 string used to be just under at around 900 but now its 1200 for some reason. _________________ Check out all 7 tracks from my debut album Earth Light on myspace right now!!!!!

Bumping up this topic. I'm looking at getting at 1527 Prestige; I really wish they did offer a bit more selection with the color schemes, though. The blue is just boring, and the white... well, I kind of like it (goes with my last name and all), but with the white body, maple fretboard, and blacker-than-the-blackest-black headstock, I dunno. I'd probably be sold if it had a rosewood or ebony fretboard; will try one at GC or SA to see how it is in person. _________________ Just Walk Away
