Anyone like to read? I wish I had more time to devote to it, but I still manage to finish a couple of books a year. Some favorite authors of mine are:

H.P. Lovecraft - super bizarre, turn-of-the-century horror author. His language and writing style take a little bit of time to adjust to, but it's worth it. Bands, particularly Morbid Angel and Metallica, have based a number of lyrics/song titles on his works. I recommend the short story (though all his stories are short) "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath" as a good starting point. Really crazy stuff, especially considering how long ago it was penned. I should also mention a number of films, like the classic "Re-Animator" and "From Beyond", are based on his works as well.

Stephen King - hey, what can I say, I really like his style. I've read more by him than any other single author. "It", "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" (short stories), "The Shining", "Dreamcatcher", and many others are fine reads.

Frank Herbert - most famous for the "Dune" series. At least check out the first book.

Richard Marcinko - one badass, old former Navy SEAL. Has a series of books out depicting some of his adventures.

Thomas Harris - he wrote, "Silence of the Lambs" and the rest of the series, as well as some others.

That's it for now...

I love reading. Use to read much more in the way of novels as a kid, but would basically read anything you put in front of me. Even used to read all the labels on toothpaste, shaving cream, etc., when in el baņo. I still do a lot of reading, but over the years I've wound up mostly reading non-fiction, philosophy, magazines, and technical stuff.

A quick list of favorites would include...

Fiction:

"Atlas Shrugged" - Ayn Rand... read twice, planning on a third reading.

"Anthem" - Ayn Rand novelette.

"Macbeth" - Shakespeare

"Romeo and Juliet" - Shakespeare

"The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - Mark Twain aka. Samuel Clemens

"A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" - also by Mark Twain

Greek mythology. Don't confuse that with Greek tragedy, which I think is crap in terms of it's "sense of life"

Anything by Dr. Seuss!

Non-fiction:

Anything by Ayn Rand. "Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal", "Philosophy: Who Needs It", "The Virtue of Selfishness", "The New Left: The Anti-industrial Revolution", "For the New Intellectual", "The Voice of Reason"... the list goes on.

Various writers on various subjects.

Magazines and technical:

Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, Road and Track, PC Magazine, various Gun mags, Maxim, Stuff, Playboy (although their writers are way too liberal... just give me the T & A, please.).

Various websites and articles on electronics, chemistry, physics, music, and wherever else my occasional ADD leads me!

Anything from Chuck Palahniuk is awesome the man is an awesome satirist

Id recommend Fight Club, Choke, Survivor, Rant, Lullaby, and Haunted.

now from other Authors:
Make Room! Make room! by Henry Harrison
Paradise Lost by John Milton
also the Dexter book series from Jeff Lindsay is awesome
American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis
Killer Angels by Michael Shaara
Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess

If you want something political check out Ted White and Blue the Nugent Manifesto.

yes i realize most of my favorite books are already moves but lets be honest the movie is never as good as the book
